Light Work

Locate Your Light Switch!!!!

As a creative I think you have to get lost on your journey, & I say get lost because it means you’re in pursuit. If you never get started on your journey (& I’m just using myself for example) I feel like you’re not lost but in a state of confusion & in that space I feel you can only help you. But for those just a little lost on their journey I feel like I’ve been a beacon of light to a lot of great artists or creatives whichever one you classify as because I have learned how to continuously find my way through my journey as a creative which then allows me to use those experiences and skills acquired in multiple areas of my life as a man, father, mentor, and much more.

I’ve learned that most of the time I was lost because I wasn’t sure about who I was in the moment or why I was doing the things I was doing in those moments. Those creating for the sole purpose of financial gain this message isn’t for you. On this journey you will continually have to remind yourself of who you are and your why’s if there are multiple. Through my continual efforts of having to stay grounded in who I am and my why’s, it gets cloudy with a chance of meatballs. If you have kids you might know where that’s from. But seriously sometimes it gets dark and stormy in the space you’re lost in. I’ve been able to help a lot of really great creatives and artist locate themselves in that space of being lost and remember their why. I don’t call myself a light or anything like that I’ve just gotten good finding my light switches.

When you get home & all the lights are out sometimes you bump into things when coming in the house & your hands are full, your moving fast, & it’s getting overwhelming & you get frustrated in that moment. You feel lost even. But even in the darkness within your frustration you know where the light switch is. And what do you begin to do? You start moving slowly, you remember you left the chair out from under the table, you start to feel for the wall, you remember the layout of your home and it’s no longer frustrating you just have to get around the things that are stopping you from turning on the light. Sometimes people may be talking while all this is happening and what do we do, tell them to be quiet until I turn this light on (Don’t forget that part).

You’ve been here before, in the dark, in your home and you’ve found your way through this darkness before. As creatives or artists again however you classify yourself, you have been there before lost in your own creativity, questioning yourself about who you are and how you have found yourself lost in your own home, (in this sense your own person or being). But sometimes we just have to quiet the noise from around us, this is where you remember the part about telling the person to be quiet until you locate the light switch, sometimes you have to quiet the noise around and within yourself and tell yourself you’ve been here before in darkness in your own home.

And that’s my point, your never lost most times the conditions or the atmosphere around you has caused you to slow down and remember. Remember who you are and your why helps you locate your light switch. That’s what I have gotten good at, slowing down and remembering who I am and how I want to show up in the world and my why. You’re never really lost on this journey you just have to stop letting the conditions around you cause you to forget your home just slow down and locate your light switch.
